Book Launch and Dinner (Iftar)

We are excited to announce a book launch and Dinner (iftar) with Yousef Wahb — author of the new critical edition and annotated translation of a treatise on Laylat ul-Qadr by 15th century scholar, Wali al-Din al-ʿIraqi.

This edition has been collated from six manuscripts and features an annotated English translation. The book provides a concise summary of the virtues, events, and timing of Laylat al-Qadr as presented by 27 scholarly opinions, with each viewpoint grounded in evidence from prophetic reports.

You are cordially invited…

Join us for a Ramadan discussion and dinner with the author, Yousef Wahb, on the sacredness of particular days in the Islamic tradition and their significance. The discussion will center around Laylat ul-Qadr, which the author translates as the “Night of Value” — a day in the month of Ramadan described in the Quran as “better than a thousand months.”

The author will highlight how Laylat al-Qadr is understood within the Islamic tradition, reflect on its translation in English, and engage the audience in a discussion on how these understandings impact day-to-day experience.

Thursday, March 28th, 5:30PM - 8:00PM

(Doors open at 5:15pm)

Discussion: 5:30PM - 7:00PM | Prayer and Dinner (Iftar): 7:12PM
